WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Sedgwick County commissioners on Wednesday put off extending an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation on the Northwest Expressway project for another week.
The proposed highway would connect U.S. Highway 54 near Goddard to Kansas Highway 96 in Maize.
The agreement with KDOT does not extend beyond 2025, and KDOT offered to continue the partnership for another year by matching up to $800,000 in county funds.
The money would be used to purchase land and preserve the right-of-way for the project.
